Film Utopia is a UK production company with bases in England and Italy, which develops European films for the cinema and broadcast drama/documentaries for TV.
We were founded by 2005 award winning writer and director Clive Davies-Frayne.
Clive:
"I set up Film Utopia because I genuinely believed that the development of films and TV projects could be done better, if only producers decided to treat every single project as if it was the most important film ever made, regardless of the budget or the potential commercial value.
All too often producers compromise the programmes they develop before they've even explored the possibility of making something outstanding. We decided from day one that we would never do that. Instead, we'd always keep the focus on how every part of the development and production process could be used to make the end product breath-taking.
This is a commitment to which we have always held true.
To achieve this we actively seek out the best emergent directorial, writing and production talent in Europe and work in partnership with them to make every single project something that everyone involved can passionately get behind.
What we've learned from many years of independent film making is that it is our ability to enthuse our entire team about the films we make, that makes our films special... and because everyone on our team is 100% behind the project we can creatively adapt and improve the film regardless of the situation."
